Problems In Cooling System

• Engine overheats: 

The possible cause are: 

⇒  Collant has not been replaced at the recommended level

⇒  Radiator or the hoses are Leaking

⇒  Fan belt is worn out

⇒  Pressure cap doesn't work

⇒  The thermostat does not operate at the proper temperature (Remove the thermostat and check its operation by placing it in hot water to see if it expands.  If no expansion takes place, fit a new thermostat)

 ⇒ The radiator is clogged (open the drain clock at the bottom of the radiator and flush the radiator until water runs clean)

⇒  Water pump's bearing are worn which cause leakage of water at the impeller shaft.

•  The engine takes too long to warm up: The possible cause is: Thermostat mechanism (e.g. spring or valve) may have failed due to which the valve doesn't close at the proper temperature.

•  Engine overheats at idle speeds: 

   The possible cause are:

    (i)  Fan doesn't operate
    (ii) Fan belt slips.
